Lady May makes her mark on Big Brother Africa 7

LADY May’s odd routine of exercising in pink high heels and her somewhat extreme, yet attention-grapping presentation caused her to be noticed by Africa and to become a trending topic on social networks. Her view on sex: “I do not believe in sex, but in love-making” has become a favourite quote amongst Big Brother viewers. Some love her, others tolerate her and a few despise her to the extent that they call her scary and crazy, but nobody can deny that she is a strong competitor. She is calculating and did not wait a second before her strategy kicked in. Whether she’s being herself or not, is she being noticed? With over 25 other housemates competing for attention there is hardly any time to be subtle. The aim of the game at the moment is to have Biggie’s camera on them, which she has managed to achieve in just one week, starting off with her weird fetish for exercising in high heels. Africa went abuzz with that issue on the very first day. She has also won the loyalty of fellow housemates, who find her funny and intellectual and have praised her for preparing exceedingly good food. Lady May is also a fun spot as she took the soap task in her stride and was comfortable with Rocki rubbing her exposed body under the Jacuzzi to the benefit of them winning that task. She also throws in a little gossip into the mix: Prezzo, DKB, Mampi and the Lady stayed up late discussing Babalwa’s obnoxious mannerisms. People watch Big Brother Africa to be entertained and Lady May seems to be doing just that! But what are the general views here at home. Effy, the gospel artist, says she brings something different to the house. “Most Namibian contestants we had before didn’t really have a captivating personality. She’s fun, energetic and different. It’s hard to imagine the house without her and the good thing is she is being herself, because that is how we know her. We can’t say its an act that will fade in a few weeks. That is the key element in the house, because you cannot pretend for 90 days. I think she will go far.” Linekela Halwoodi, a journalist says “Lady May rocks here in Namibia. She is representing the crazy side of Namibia, but she is not doing us proud, because we are only finding out now that she speaks 0% English and 58% Namlish.” Diana Sackaria, a St George’s learner says “I think she’s not acting and she must keep up the good work. I think she’s really doing well; she gets more comments on the strip. I really think she has a chance of winning.“ Steffie Skrywer, a fashion model, says “Lady May has thus far not come fully out. Her strategy is very visible and this is a threat. Africa still doesn’t get her. They think she is crazy but it’s just a strategy, she is playing the game on her own terms, which is a wise move.” Martin Leo, a radio dj, says “She is overconfident in a sweet, subtle way and has a good dose of self-esteem. But she is a slow thinker, that’s why she over uses ‘time-eating’ words including; ‘like’ and ‘kama’. Lady May is embarrassing me.” Imms Atanasiu, a student at the Poly student says, “It is still too early to make a convincing verdict, but she is doing great. She nailed the soap task and I hope she does us proud as the show goes on.”
